In a game for the baseball purist, Sid Fernandez(2-0) and Don Carman(0-1)
squared off in a tense pitching duel, Cleveland Buckeyes finally emerged
victorious over Great Lakes Whitecaps, 3 to 1.
Great Lakes was unable to climb back into it after Cleveland went ahead for
good in the 2nd inning plating an isolated run using 2 hits.  Cleveland ended
up with 8 hits for the game while Great Lakes had 5.
