The Cleveland Buckeyes defeated the Great Lakes Whitecaps in 10 innings by a
score of 11 to 7 at Municipal Stadium.
The score was tied at 7 after nine. Cleveland ended up winning it in the 10th
inning.  The key offensive moment was provided by Jerry Royster who brought
the crowd to their feet when he cleared the bases with a Grand Slam homerun.
Although they lost, Great Lakes did out-hit Cleveland 14 to 10.  
Roger McDowell(1-0) allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Lee Smith(0-1) was charged with the loss in relief.
