In a tight game it was the Cleveland Buckeyes 7, the Chicago Fire 5 at
Comiskey Park.
Chicago was unable to claim the lead after Cleveland went ahead in the top of
the 2nd inning scoring one runner on 2 hits. Greg Walker hit a bases-empty
home run. Chicago had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.
Dave Dravecky(2-0) went 6 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. Mike Henneman
earned the save, his 3rd. Doyle Alexander(0-1) absorbed the loss. He was
knocked around by Cleveland, allowing 10 hits and 4 walks in 5 innings.
Despite losing Matt Dzurisin was optimistic after the game. 'We'll get over
this one. Sometimes the breaks fall your way, sometimes they don't. Any one
of a dozen little things go different, and we come out on top.'
