Bill Gullickson delivered 7 solid innings as the Cleveland Buckeyes bested the
Chicago Fire 5 to 3 at Municipal Stadium.
Cleveland tallied 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning. The crucial at-bat
was provided by Kirk Gibson who made the crowd happy when he hit a 'grand
salami' to the delight of his teammates. Chicago had a chance to come back
in the 9th but they came up short.
Gullickson(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 7 innings. Dave
Stieb(0-1) suffered the loss. He gave up 4 runs and 4 hits in 6 innings.
