In a close game it was the Las Vegas 51's 10, the River City Rascals 8 in 17
innings at Fenway Park.
Both teams were tied at 7 runs apiece after nine innings. Las Vegas was
victorious in the 17th inning. Steve Swisher led off and he tripled. Craig
Kusick stepped up next and he drew a walk. Bobby Grich then doubled bringing
in a run. Elliott Maddox stepped in and he banged out a single scoring one
more run. Sal Bando stepped into the box and hit a deep fly scoring the
final run of the inning. Las Vegas had 15 hits for the night while River
City had 10.
Mike Garman(1-0) allowed no runs in 2 innings, and picked up the victory. Rick
Waits gained credit for his 1st save. Lindy McDaniel(1-1) was hit with the
loss in relief. He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 3 runs in 2
innings.
