The Hollywood Stars endured an embarrassing pasting as a potent Philadelphia Warriors lineup tallied 12 runs while J.R. Richard(1-0), with relief help from Doc Medich, shutout Hollywood.
Philadelphia took the lead for good in the bottom of the 3rd inning plating an isolated run. Bob Boone drew a walk. One out later, Richard came up and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Jerry Mumphrey then lashed a single scoring the run. That scoring would be all that was needed. Hollywood was out-hit by Philadelphia, 12 hits to 2.
Burt Hooton(0-1) was hit with the loss. He allowed 3 hits and 4 walks in 4 innings.
