At Municipal Stadium, the Hollywood faithful were treated to an intriguing
pitcher's duel. Ed Farmer(1-0) finally bested his Hollywood counterpart,
Mike Lacoss(0-1), by the score of 1 to 0.
Philadelphia started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half
of the first scoring a single run using 2 hits. That was all Farmer needed.
Hollywood was set down quietly in the bottom of the 9th.
Jim Kern was credited with his 1st save. Lacoss was the loser. He allowed 1
run and 5 hits in 5 innings.
