In a close game the Philadelphia Warriors got by the Homestead Grays by the
score of 3 to 1.
Philadelphia scored the decisive runs in a big 8th inning with 2 runs on 3
hits.  Bill North kicked off the action when he laced a single.  Jerry
Mumphrey followed and he smacked a single.  Rick Burleson then laid down a
sacrifice bunt.  Keith Hernandez was up next and he reached on an error which
plated a run.  Oscar Gamble stepped into the box and delivered a base-hit
scoring the final run of the inning.  Philadelphia finished with just 6 hits
in the victory.  
The win was credited to Tim Stoddard(1-1) who went 2 innings allowing no runs.
Stoddard got relief help from Jim Kern who gained credit for his 1st save.
Scott McGregor(0-1) ended up with the loss in relief.  He surrendered 2 runs
and 2 hits without retiring a batter.
