John Wockenfuss hit a homerun as the Philadelphia Warriors defeated the St
Louis Browns in 10 innings by the score of 4 to 3 at Comiskey Park.
Both teams were tied at 3 runs apiece after nine innings.  Finally,
Philadelphia pulled the game out in the 10th inning.  After an out was
recorded, Jerry Mumphrey laced a base-hit.  Rick Burleson followed and he
laid down a sacrifice bunt.  George Brett then was walked intentionally.
Keith Hernandez stepped in and he stroked a single giving Philadelphia the
win and sending the home town fans into a frenzy.  Philadelphia managed 7 in
their victory.  
Bob Lacey(1-0) went 2/3 of an inning allowing no runs for the win. Vern
Ruhle(0-1) was hit with the loss in relief.  He pitched 2/3 of an inning
allowing 2 hits and 1 walk.
