Dell Alston smacked 2 triples at Comiskey Park where the Philadelphia Warriors
beat the Reading Pretzels by the score of 5 to 4.
Philadelphia tallied 4 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning with the help of 4
hits. The highlight belonged to Manny Trillo who made the Philadelphia fans
a happy lot when he slapped a base-hit bringing in two baserunners. Reading
threatened in the 9th but Philadelphia was able to put down the rally.
Doc Medich(1-0) allowed 2 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Tim Stoddard gained credit for his 1st save. Jerry Reuss(0-1) was
the losing pitcher. He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 8 hits
and 2 walks in 4 innings.
'We lose our concentration for one pitch, and we lose the game.' Glen Macnow
said after the game. 'Maybe now these guys will listen when I say they have
to concentrate on EVERY pitch.'
