The game was won by Reading with a run in the 9th inning. Garry Templeton lined a single. Templeton stole second with some aggressive base running. Two outs later Andy Rincon stepped up to the plate and he threw a high and inside pitch that got by the catcher; it was ruled a passed ball. Barry Foote was up next and he reached on an error making Reading the winners and sending the 50,364 fans home happy. Reading and Philadelphia each finished the night with 3 hits.
