One run was the difference at The Astrodome as the Houston Astros defeated the
Philadelphia Warriors in 12 innings 2 to 1.
The score was tied at 1 after nine. Houston was victorious in the 12th
inning. After an out was recorded, Cesar Cedeno was hit by a pitch. Richard
Caldwell then called for a steal which was successful. Jerry Morales then
lined a one-base hit making Houston the victors to the delight of the home
town faithful. Houston won despite being out-hit by Philadelphia 8 hits to 4.
The win went to Bob Apodaca(2-0) who allowed no runs in 1 inning. Ken
Forsch(0-1) was the losing pitcher in relief. He was the victim of a
defensive lapse and did not allow an earned run in the game.
