TEAM RISP- Minutemen: 1 for 6 Buckeyes: 2 for 9
Roger McDowell had an impressive outing and Jody Davis touched them all and
had 3 RBI at Municipal Stadium as the Cleveland Buckeyes beat the Manchester
Minutemen in 11 innings by the count of 7 to 4.
Both teams had scored 4 runs after nine full innings. Cleveland won the hard
fought contest in the 11th inning. Dale Murphy led off and started the
attack as he ripped a base-knock. Mike Pagliarulo was next to bat, but he
was a strikeout victim. Alan Trammell then doubled. One out later, Davis
stepped up to the plate and he lofted a three-run 'big-fly' making Cleveland
the winners and sending the 41,121 fans home happy. Cleveland out-hit
Manchester for the game, 14 hits to 6.
Lance McCullers(2-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 inning. Rick
Anderson(0-1) absorbed the loss in relief. He surrendered 3 runs and 4 hits
in 1 and 2/3 innings.
