Left fielder Kevin McReynolds hit a homerun and had 3 RBI as the Columbus
Redbirds defeated the Portland Beavers by a score of 9 to 2 at Busch Stadium.

Columbus drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning
scoring 5 runners on 3 hits. That early run support was enough for Dave Lapoint
and Columbus. Columbus had 11 hits for the night while Portland had 4.

Charlie Hough(0-1) was tagged with the loss. He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 7 hits and 5 walks in 4 innings.
