Dave Smith was great in relief at Arlington Stadium as the San Francisco
Golden Seals beat the Texas Rangers by the count of 10 to 9.
San Francisco took the lead for keeps in the top of the 7th inning plating an
isolated run. This was the kind of game that many fans love as the lead
changed hands 5 times.
John Wetteland(1-0) went 2 innings allowing 1 run for the victory. Wetteland
got help from Smith who was credited with his 1st save. Eric Plunk(0-1) was
the losing pitcher in relief. He was the victim of a defensive lapse and did
not allow an earned run in the game.
