1976 All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium

The American League struck first on an RBI single by Fred Lynn in the 4th. With two down and nobody on in the 5th, Bill Madlock pinch hit for Craig Nettles and lined a single to right. Reggie Smith misplayed the hit and Madlock ended up on third base. The NL's manager, Duke Siemienski, ordered Tug McGraw to intentionally walk Steve Garvey to get to Bucky Dent... who promptly delivered a 3-run blast to left center field (HR 1-2, DO 3-20 - with a roll of 2-11), to open the game up to 4-0, and the American League never looked back. The National League had a chance to open the scoring in the first against Mark Fidrych. With one out and Bobby Grich at first, George Brett smashed a drive to center, but Fred Lynn leaped up and caught the ball that appeared destined to be a homer... a play you have undoubtedly seen on your local newscasts by this point. The National League had runners on all night, but could not get the big hits when needed.

MVP: Bucky Dent, Durham Bulls

AL Manager: Matt Trygstad, Sioux Falls Canaries

NL Manager: Duke Siemienski, Hollywood Stars
